Visit with Cousin Janet

Today's activities were planned around a visit with Grandma's cousin Janet.  We started off with a stop at the Gardens at Merritt Lake.

Dave especially likes Bonsai so we rushed first to that garden.

We thought this mini forest was cool--it is made up of 44 trees!
Here is a rare view of the photographers at work:

Our next stop was cousin Janet's house in Richmond.  She gave us a tour of her house which included her and her friends' artworks and pieces she has collected from around the world.  She also gave Laura tips on knitting and a pair of special knitting needles.

Finally, we ended up at Crab Cove Visitor Center in Alameda to investigate the tide pools.

We really did not see anything alive, but we found some cool shells and Joshua spotted a dead crab.
